Sadie gets to sport a purple cast for the next three weeks. I am really surprised this is the first cast we've had being that we have four kids. Not too bad! Sadie is left-handed so she is trying to adjust to having people help her and doing things right handed. Fortunately it's only a minor fracture so hopefully we'll be healed in no time.
Everyone asks Sadie how it happened and she just get bashful. Once I start to tell the story she chimes in with "teapot, we play teapot". Sadie, Jack and Alyssa made up a game where they run around crazy while singing "I'm a little tea pot". The fun and games ended when Jack and Sadie collided and she went crashing to the ground landing on her elbow.
After I got home from football with Gavan, she headed off to the after hours clinic with Gary. Why do sickness and injuries that require medical care always happen after hours? Anyway, they were unable to determine if it was broken from the x-ray, so we were sent to an orthopedic specialist the next afternoon. Apparently fractures are hard to tell in little kids when they are mild, and often don't always show up until a week later.
Sadie was in a splint for 5 days and then had a second set of x-rays to determine the damage. She is thrilled that her cast is purple and I am thrilled her halloween costume will still fit her with her cast. It even matches her costume.
