Valentine's Activities

Yes I am late on posting this but it is better late than never so here goes.
Last week I have made many foods with Valentine's theme, mostly treats. Here is the week in review.

Chocolate Rice Krispie hearts

Heart and Lips shaped gigglers

Heart shaped Brownies

We had our actual "family" valentine's meal on Friday so Gary and I could have a date on Valentine's day. Here is what we ate:

Heart shaped bread sticks and heart pizza.
OK, these really are a my pretzel recipe but they are so much easier than bread sticks so I just season them as bread sticks and they are almost as good.
The kids got to help make the bread sticks as part of fun Friday.
This kids love it when they get to have sparkling juice for a special occation.

And heart shaped cherry chip flavored cupcakes for dessert.

I think I have seen enough hearts for awhile!

Don't go and think I am this domestic and fun all the time. I just get a wild hair around a few particular holidays and go with it. I figure quirky traditions make for fun childhood memories. I can't wait for April fools day. That is my all time favorite meal to plan!

Valentine's Hair

There are two hair blogs that I follow "A story of a Princess and her Hair" Here and "Hair Today" Here. I love all their ideas however, I am not at their level of hair skill yet. I have had fun doing heart hair with Alyssa.
I added the clips to pull the center of the heart down because it was and low as I wanted.
Next time I would add a third rubber band to fix this problem.

I would also do it with her hair more wet next time. It got lumpy b/c it should have been wetter. But with a 3 year old you do what you can do.
So later I too all but the two red clips out, b/c it was just too much for me with all the colors. I liked this better.

This is the second heart hair I tried this week. It turned about better b/c I her hair was really wet and easy to smooth out.

So, come to find out it is hard to get a good picture of a 3 year old.Front
So I wouldn't do these hairs styles often but once a year the heart is cute.

Valentine Boxes

The boys entered the Valentine's box contest at school. This is the first year we have made a box for the contest. This year they said families could work together on them to even out the playing field. The boys did most of the work, all the drawing and decorating. We did hot gluing and cutting, didn't want anyone to get hurt. I love all the details the boys added.

Jack did a Wii with a controller.

It looked very realistic too, just on a larger scale.

Gavan chose a pink Ipod. I believe he chose pink b/c I had a pink shuffle, which is now owned by his father. That is a story for another time. :)
I love the earbuds, they look just like Ipod earbuds! We even chose a Valentine's song..."Achy Breaky Heart"
