Yellowstone-day 2

On Friday we got up early so we good see lots of animals. It worked! We headed to cook city and on our way out of Canyon we saw a bear. He was right on the side of the road eating leaves. He was probably 25 feet from our car.
He was cute, but I was glad I was in my car and not out walking when we spotted him. Come to find out a few days after we left Yellowstone a camper was killed while sleeping in his tent in Cook City. YIKES! Talk about a lose-lose situation.

Back to all the animals we saw on Friday. We saw a bald eagles in his nest, tons of bison, coyote, wolf, squirrels, elk, deer, prong horn (antelope), chipmunks and tons of birds.
Here is a lone bison. We saw several a lot closer but never thought to take a picture. Every we saw a squirrel the boys would run after it and scare it off. Silly boys.

Cook City could do a lot to improve it's customer service. Because the city doesn't have a sewer and only septic tanks nobody will let you use their bathrooms. They had outhouses located at city center. I had to beg a restaurant to let Alyssa use their bathroom because she couldn't hold it to run to the other end of town.
Here the kids are getting wiggles out playing follow the leader on the rocks in front of the city center bathrooms. Nothing like a good old john boy to make a vay-kay (love that word) complete.
Every time we go to cook city we take a picture of the kids on this funny wood post. This is July 2008 and this....

The funny thing about this picture is Jack was going to wear this same shirt current day (2008) for the picture (above) until Sadie puked on him because he shook her up after having a bottle. Of course I didn't know this until I looked at this old photo.
